What is Green Circle?

The beauty industry poses many challenges to the environment, from sourcing of ingredients to the disposal of packaging and products. Through our alignment with Green Circle Salons, we plan to reduce the ecological footprint we are making and implement simple green changes that will make both our salon and our industry more sustainable.

We are proud of this new partnership and confident that, as fellow stewards of the planet, you will support our initiative to keep our communities cleaner and more vibrant places to live.

Did you know that currently all aluminum foil and color tubes are not being recycled and are sent to landfills?

We were interested to learn that 95% of all aluminum can be recycled repeatedly, including the foils and color tubes we use here in our salon. From now on, in partnership with Green Circle Salons, we will take an environmentally responsible stand and ensure that all of our metals are properly recycled. This will help to reduce the need for more landfill space and decrease the amount of toxins going into our landfill sites.

Did you know hair when placed in garbage bags will mummify, continue to fill our landfill, and give off methane gas?

Through our partnership with GCS, we will now divert all of this hair out of landfills and into other more sustainable projects.

Green Circle Salons, in connection with various partners, are looking at ways that hair can play an important role in several commercial applications. It’s exciting to know that hair can be used in our oceans to help in oil spill cleanup and recovery projects. In 2010, Green Circle sent over 1000lbs of hair to the Gulf of Mexico to help clean up the BP oil spill.

Did you know that all excess chemicals, including color, perm solutions and ammonia, get rinsed down the sink and ultimately find their way into the water supply?

This is the ugly truth of the industry. Our solution will be to send all excess color waste to a hazard waste facility where they will be incinerated with other chemical wastes. The ensuing heat that is created generates new sources of energy! All this while stopping these chemicals from ending up in our community’s water supply.

What is the environmental eco fee contribution for?

Green Circle Salons developed this as a tool to financially enable salons and spas to finance their pathway to becoming greener. Their services make it achievable; the Eco Fee will help make it affordable and possible for our salon.

Our vision is to ensure that everyone has a role in change. To us, that means asking for change and contributing towards it. This helps us complete the circle!

The Green Circle program also encourages other green initiatives for our business as well. These range from replacing incandescent lighting with energy efficient fluorescent or LED light bulbs, long-term investments in solar power, installing energy efficient fans, instant hot water systems, or solar thermal heating. All these initiatives come at a cost, and we want to be transparent with all of our guests on the accountability of our new fee and why we have implemented it.

We believe that by taking these important and incremental steps now, we can preempt future fees that may come as a result of an emerging green economy and the ever-increasing cost of energy and environmental regulation we are excited about being leaders in our community and the industry and we are delighted that you care for our world as much as we do.

We look forward to growing a greener future together! Allure Beauty Bar will have a $3 eco fee added to each guest ticket starting April 1, 2023
